Great Expectations Chapter 5,6,7

Chapter 5 begins by some soldier coming to the house during their dinner party. It caused everyone to rise from the table in confusion. Pip answered the door worried that the police where after him. Relief came for Pip as the police were looking for the blacksmith[Joe] to fix their handcuffs. Mr.Pumblechook was offering the sergeant another glass of win as if it was his wine and he was the host. Pip, Joe, Mr.Wopsle and the soldiers went out to the marshes to catch the convict. The then find two escaped convicts fighting and take them to the docks to the prisoner ship. The convict who Pip first met took blame for stealing the food, drink and whittles. He saves Pip from getting in any trouble with the police, Joe or his sister.

Chapter 6 Pip talks about the relief he felt after being ‘exonerated’ by the prisoner.

Chapter 7 starts with Pip saying he was in the churchyard and he was just about smart enough to spell his parents names out. He also says that one night next to his chimney he was making his greatest effort to write a letter to Joe. There was no point in him writing the letter

Comparison. Two Americans and South Africans killed in police training centre.

Both of these sources from The Guardian and The Telegraph use very nearly the same title to discuss the fact that three men were killed in a police training facility. They only change the fact that The Guardian says it was in Jordan.  The Telegraph includes the fact that the training facility was set up by Americans, it suggests that they are trying to possibly criticise Americans by including their country. The Telegraph says that a Jordanian police officer ‘opened fire’ which suggests that it was done purposely. The Guardian then says that the shooting was done accidentally. The editor of the Guardian Newspaper could be saying this because he wants to protect his country from people possibly criticising them if he is from Jordan. Both sources mention that the incident was on the 10th year anniversary of al Qaeda suicide bombings which was one of the worst militant attacks in Jordan’s history. Writers of The Guardian mentioned that it seemed to bear a similarity to an incident where guns were turned on Americans in Afghanistan.
