Three extended noun phrases:

  • Dr Henry Brubaker of the Institute for Studies. A man at the Institute for Studies.
  • Carolyn Ryan of Hebden Bridge. A woman from  Hebden Bridge.

I do not see how the the pronoun changes the meaning of the sentence. The only changes it makes is that ot takes away detail from what the sentence was before.
